Half of all room-AC troubleshooting threads are water threads: tanks that fill absurdly fast, drips landing on windowsills, mysterious sloshing, and one day a smell like a gym bag. Slosh means water is where it should be. Drilling out the base pan 'weep hole' to stop the sound — a whole genre of confident forum advice — costs you a few percent of efficiency and invites the pan to grow the algae the moving water discouraged. The wet-sock smell and the spring cleaning that prevents it
